Back from NYC

New York is crazy/fascinating/really fun but god I'm glad to be back in London.
Not only because we don't have a million street vendors pushing food on you on every corner. Seriously, New York smells of food, food, FOOD, how are all New Yorkers not obese?!

Also I walked out of London Bridge station (near my flat) this morning after getting the tube (not subway) from Heathrow and wow we have TINY buildings, I was like woah there is sky up there! I must say the overpoweringly tall buildings were an aspect that freaked me out about New York a bit...even though I live 10 minutes from the Shard.

So yeah, post-New York weigh-in tomorrow is not going to be good. Although hopefully lots of walking, and having a bit of a stomach bug for a few days out there will have helped. Things that will not have helped: Magnolia Bakery cupcakes, pancakes for breakfast, more pancakes, pizza, more pizza, pastrami from Katz's Deli, hot dogs, beer pong.

Pastrami from heaven!

New York so far....

My first 24 hours in the US have been pretty amazing. Also surprisingly good on the healthy eating front. London needs to get on Chipotle (burrito, taco, salad, yum) and egg white omletes.

Currently on a train to Washington DC for the day (woo free wifi).

I hope you enjoy this nice view of the statue of liberty (in the distance) from outside my friend's cousin's office :)

Start spreading the news....

I'm leaving today (tomorrow). I want to be a part of it NEW YORK, NEW YORK!

Yes I will stop singing now. But pretty please will someone find my the outfit Liza is wearing above? Hot stuff.

So thanks to me spending several weeks going "I want to run in Central Park! Wouldn't it be cool to run in Central Park?! Just imagine running in Central Park!" all my friends have packed their trainers! And as we know trainers take up a lot of precious packing space so that is some persuasive nagging on my behalf lol. Obviously I'm excited about other things but running in Central Park somehow seems magical and special to me :)

Generally it's happy days today, on top of New York excitement I got on the scales this morning to see 201.2lbs, so I'm heading to New York as low as I've been, good enough, although sadly doesn't change the fact I'm going with slim, beautiful short-arsed people. But whatevs, I don't need to be hot in America I just need to work the English accent!

In other news I had today off for some last minute omg-going-on-holiday-have-no-clothes shopping (and packing obviously) and my friends I am typing this wearing size 16 shorts, and they're pink! Yep I think I'm slowly but surely moving down a trouser size :D Couldn't ask for a better start to the holiday really.

I look exactly like this in the shorts and definitely don't have to wear leggings with them or anything.
Right then, see you on the other side...of the pond!

A bad week before holiday

I don't really like calling this week a "bad" week, there are definitely things I did right but then there are a few things that let's say "haven't helped" with my weight loss.

Good things:
1. Progressed as hoped on Couch to 5k and will be finishing off week 4 tonight and doing week 5 day 1 tomorrow
2. Street dance class on Wednesday (to this song, so hilariously uncool, usual instructor who plays half-decent music was away) and Spin class on Thursday (also know as torture class)
3.  More calories burned than eaten on 5/7 days

Bad things:
1. Beer, so much beer (three and a half pints on Friday night)
2.Sushi, so much sushi, all you can eat on Saturday night, my friends I REGRET NOTHING (omg so good) ok maybe I regret it a little...

So this all means, annoyingly, that I have not reached my pre-New York goal (I'm going for a week from Tuesday) of getting under 200lbs. In fact it means, according to the scales this morning, that I have gone back up to 204lbs. This is obviously exceedingly rubbish but I'm trying to see it as a hiccup rather than a OMG I HAVE FAILED situation.

Anyhow I'm taking my running stuff to New York (more on that tomorrow) so fingers crossed I won't actually put on weight whilst away, although I'm slightly worried about American portion sizes, that shiz is insane.

New goals

What's that? Everyone did their new goals at the start of January which makes this post rather late on the scene? Yeah well, that's the way this goat roles!

So having failed my Christmas goals I am going to have to reshuffle a bit. I'm still aiming for 170lbs at some point this year and also running a half marathon but I obviously need to break things down ("break it down!").

Key date and key weights:

Today - not sure, didn't get on the scales so we'll see tomorrow (it's about 207lbs)

20th March (me birfday!) -200lbs

25th March - 3 mile run

24th April ooooohhhhh New York - 193lbs (random number yes)

21st October - Run to the Beat half marathon

So the birthday is an obvious goal, losing a bit more by then would hopefully abate my "quarter life crisis", not that I'll be having one my life's pretty sorted, and getting more so with the weight loss! The 3 mile race is for sport relief in central London and something I'm doing with some friends. Finally I'm, going to NYC! So incredibly excited but also want to make sure I can make the most of New York shopping opportunities and, sadly, I don't want to be the only non-hot English girl on out trip (got to work the accent in the states).

Lastly but never leastly a couple of things were said to me this weekend:
"You're not fat anymore, you're just a bit chubs now, but definitely not a fatty." (My ever honest sister)
"You're stunning." (This one can be taken with a pinch of salt but still brings a smile to my face)
