New York so far....

My first 24 hours in the US have been pretty amazing. Also surprisingly good on the healthy eating front. London needs to get on Chipotle (burrito, taco, salad, yum) and egg white omletes.

Currently on a train to Washington DC for the day (woo free wifi).

I hope you enjoy this nice view of the statue of liberty (in the distance) from outside my friend's cousin's office :)

Start spreading the news....

I'm leaving today (tomorrow). I want to be a part of it NEW YORK, NEW YORK!

Yes I will stop singing now. But pretty please will someone find my the outfit Liza is wearing above? Hot stuff.

So thanks to me spending several weeks going "I want to run in Central Park! Wouldn't it be cool to run in Central Park?! Just imagine running in Central Park!" all my friends have packed their trainers! And as we know trainers take up a lot of precious packing space so that is some persuasive nagging on my behalf lol. Obviously I'm excited about other things but running in Central Park somehow seems magical and special to me :)

Generally it's happy days today, on top of New York excitement I got on the scales this morning to see 201.2lbs, so I'm heading to New York as low as I've been, good enough, although sadly doesn't change the fact I'm going with slim, beautiful short-arsed people. But whatevs, I don't need to be hot in America I just need to work the English accent!

In other news I had today off for some last minute omg-going-on-holiday-have-no-clothes shopping (and packing obviously) and my friends I am typing this wearing size 16 shorts, and they're pink! Yep I think I'm slowly but surely moving down a trouser size :D Couldn't ask for a better start to the holiday really.

I look exactly like this in the shorts and definitely don't have to wear leggings with them or anything.
Right then, see you on the other side...of the pond!

A bad week before holiday

I don't really like calling this week a "bad" week, there are definitely things I did right but then there are a few things that let's say "haven't helped" with my weight loss.

Good things:
1. Progressed as hoped on Couch to 5k and will be finishing off week 4 tonight and doing week 5 day 1 tomorrow
2. Street dance class on Wednesday (to this song, so hilariously uncool, usual instructor who plays half-decent music was away) and Spin class on Thursday (also know as torture class)
3.  More calories burned than eaten on 5/7 days

Bad things:
1. Beer, so much beer (three and a half pints on Friday night)
2.Sushi, so much sushi, all you can eat on Saturday night, my friends I REGRET NOTHING (omg so good) ok maybe I regret it a little...

So this all means, annoyingly, that I have not reached my pre-New York goal (I'm going for a week from Tuesday) of getting under 200lbs. In fact it means, according to the scales this morning, that I have gone back up to 204lbs. This is obviously exceedingly rubbish but I'm trying to see it as a hiccup rather than a OMG I HAVE FAILED situation.

Anyhow I'm taking my running stuff to New York (more on that tomorrow) so fingers crossed I won't actually put on weight whilst away, although I'm slightly worried about American portion sizes, that shiz is insane.

Day on, day off

Monday - ate well, did couch to 5k run (week 4 day 2 fyi), slept well (thank you nytol), all good.

Today - ate bad, did no exercise, fail.

Tomorrow - who knows?! (Well, actually I'm signed up to street dance class - never miss, love making an idiot of myself and being "down wid da streetz" - and my office has run out of  delicious evil chocolatey snacks so I should be ok).

And omg I want to watch the Biggest Loser USA because apparently some bad shiz went down in last night's episode but my download is taking a loooooooooooong time. Damn you English television for making non-over the top, generally higher quality, advertising free programmes (I heart the BBC really).

Talking of which, I'm now going to watch Silent Witness, creepy.

Back in the game (part 2)

I really don't know where to start with this post. I guess this week has been somewhat tumultuous. I've hit my lowest weight to date - 201.2lbs -  but had a weird/upsetting time in my personal life that's meant I haven't really been able to celebrate it, or sleep much, this week.

However, I think getting so close to the 100s has really made something click in me to think I can do this. It isn't even a question of can or can't really, I've just put the dates in my diary for weights I want to be and when I'm going to exercise and basically I'm going to go for it (lols I'm already mocking myself for thinking it's going to be that simple!!)

Also knowing I need dates and deadlines for myself...I've signed up for a half marathon! Yep, come October I will be running 13.1 miles around Greenwich. I still can't quite picture this, weirdly I keep thinking of being in secondary school and everyone seeing me as the the fat, non-sporty one and wondering how many people would be impressed and how many would scoff if I told them about my running. Again I think this is a symptom of being extremely tired this week, making me see a weird slant on things instead of being excited and happy for myself.

Anyway, other achievements this week - three whole people told me that I was looking much slimmer, on separate occasions! Also I moved up to week 4 of Couch to 5k and it really wasn't massively, awfully hard :)

So goals for next week, sleep more, eat well, stick to exercise schedule...I'll keep you posted!

Back in the game

Rising from the ashes like a glorious phoenix-goat I am definitely back in the running and weight loss game. I will fill you in on the deets tomorrow my little blog-a-roo...
